Pierre and Merlyn Beeckmans

Pierre Beeckmans has lived in the University of Toronto area since his university days. In 1964 he persuade his then-fiancée Merlyn they should buy a run-down house on Sussex Avenue; they renovated and brought up their family there. Pierre has been a neighbourhood activist and helped form the Sussex-Ulster residents’ association (precursor to the Harbord Village Residents' Association).
